The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene lifted the beekeeping ban!

Bee hives now need to be registered with the DOH. Please see our RESOURCES page for more information.

NYCBA's Upcoming Meeting on May 8th!

On May 8th, The New York City Beekeepers Association is proud to present our latest speaker for our monthly meeting, Frederique Keller, President of the American Apitherapy Society. Frederique will give a presentation on Rx for Health on honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly, and bee venom. She is a beekeeper on Long Island and also a licensed acupuncturist who has been practicing bee venom therapy for more than two decades.

APITHERAPY, or "bee therapy" (api is from the Latin apis meaning bee and therapy from the Greek word meaning "caring service") is the medicinal use of products made by honeybees. This therapy includes Bee Sting Therapy, also known as Bee Venom Therapy.

If you would like to know more about the American Apitherapy Society, visit their website. www.apitherapy.org

And, at long last, the Kenyan honey WILL be at the meeting for purchase this month.  Thanks for your patience.  The Samburu and their future honey badger fence thanks you, too.

Friendly Reminder Department:

If you're keeping bees in NYC, it is MANDATORY to register your hives with the NYC Department of Health. We fought hard to get beekeeping legalized in NYC, but maintaining that status requires good-faith compliance with the laws and regulations that govern this activity. Please visit our website to download the relevant forms. Thanks for your cooperation!
